Östersund and the Venue

The conference will be held at Mid Sweden University in Östersund, Sweden.

Östersund is located in the northern part of Sweden with a mountain view. Östersund, or Staare, is also situated in Sápmi – land of the Sami. Learn more about the Sami history, culture, religion, language and politics at samer.se/english

Jamtli Historieland

An outdoor museum with interactive historical depictions as well as other activities. 

Moose Garden

Located about 15 minutes outside of Östersund, this place allows you to get up close with the famed king of the forest – the Moose!

Njarka Sami Camp

A visit here offers an insight to the traditions of arctic scandinavias indigenous people. 

Åre

Swedens main mountain resort, located about an hour from Östersund.  If travelling to Åre, be sure to take the short detour for a sustainable meal at the Natural cycle house.

Trondheim

You can easily combine your visit in Östersund with a trip to the charming town Trondheim on the Norwegian cost. Take the train across the mountains, a beautiful way to travel!
